We attended the coolest retro fair… right here in Stopford

July 17th 2026

Last weekend, we attended So Retro vintage fairs’ “Vintage Spectacular” at Stockport Market, and it was packed with unique finds, classic entertainment, and interactive activities. The best part is… it only cost £3 to enter!

So Retro Fairs are curated pop-up markets where independent dealers sell mid-century to 1990s clothing, retro homeware, vinyl, and collectibles. They travel all over the Northwest, encouraging people to “discover the thrill of the hunt and the joy of finding something special.”

They transform the day into a memorable day out with live performances from legendary retro acts, as well as interactive experiences which creat an electric atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

Walking into the “Vintage Spectacular” felt like stepping back in time. The atmosphere brought to life with live swing music from the sensational Leeds City Stompers, while the Revolution Dance team had people bouncing.

There was plenty to explore throughout the market, from timeless displays of classic cars and bicycles, the chance to hop aboard a beautifully restored vintage double-decker bus for a complimentary ride through the streets of Stockport. It was a brilliant way to take in the historical sights of Stopford with an added nostalgic twist.

The vintage stalls were packed with hidden gems, including stylish retro fashion, statement jewellery, artwork, homeware, and vinyl records. As we browsed the stalls, we even had the chance to experience some incredible magic tricks from magician Michael Diamond, who amazed the crowd with his skilled close-up magic.

I undertook a complimentary colour analysis session from professional fashion expert Sophie Yesufu, which really helped when hunting for bargains in the clothes racks. I also had the chance to get a vintage up-do at the Vintage Beauty Parlour, which gave me a whole new appreciation for the time and skill that went into those iconic 1950s hairstyles.

Overall, the day was immense. We’re already waiting for the next time that So Retro stops off in Stockport.
