Unmissable events this month

June 11th 2026

The sun is here?!… sort of! World Cup Fever is sweeping the nation and the diary is getting busier than ever with unmissable things to do across Stopford, so if you’re looking for inspiration or you fancy trying something new, here’s our top five events taking place in June.

Art Battle – 12 June

A legend returns to Stopford in the form of Art Battle. Let me paint you a picture: 10 artists, 30 minutes, some pumping tunes and a load of great food and drink. This time Art Battle is being held at Edgeley Park, allowing more than ever to come along and watch the fierce showdown.

Art Battle never chooses the same venue twice so it’s your one and only opportunity to see this incredible stadium be transformed into a place for artistic expression with some of region’s greatest artistic talent fight it out on the stage. And the best part: you get to choose the winner.

Handmade at Hatworks, Makers Market – 13 June

The Hatworks Museum will be host to a multitude of unique gifts, art and locally made goodies produced by participants on Arc’s ‘Creative Enterprise’ programme. As well as the large range of products on offer, you can see live art demonstrations, enjoy summer treats in the Hatworks cafe, and grab a free ice lolly whilst you peruse the stalls.

Arc is a local arts and mental health charity, and everything raised at the market goes back into supporting its work. So not only can you get your dad a nice, unique gift for Father’s Day, but you can also help support our local community. Win, win!

Disco Bliss – 13 June

Competing with the Hatwork’s Makers’ Market will be the Disco Bliss, Daytime Disco. And if you hadn’t already guessed it, the theme is (drumroll please) … 70s and 80s!

This spectacular event travels up and down the country playing a series of blasts from the past, and now its landed here in Stockport. Whether it be ABBA, Madona, Bon Jovi or Whitney that you’re after, this daytime dance event is due to go wild. It’s got back-to-back DJs from 2.00pm to 6.00pm, meaning you can go wild with your mates, and still make sure that you get a good night’s kip.

Sketch Events and Socials are here to ignite your artistic flare, this time bringing a romantic, Italian twist to the table. The session will transport you across the Mediterranean Sea, down to the picturesque coast of Sicily with enchanting turquoise waters, aromatic florals and Renaissance beauty.

Guided through a carefully composed still life, you will learn how to use the necessary tools and techniques to produce your own masterpiece. Suitable for all levels, this two-hour workshop will take place at PINK art gallery on Lord Street, and all the materials will be provided.

This month, the quiet village of Woodford will be loosening its reins, ready for a fun-filled family event at Woodford Community Centre. Expect local traders, children’s fairground rides, ice cream, a bouncy castle and for the adults, a fully stocked bar.

There is already a great lineup of entertainment for the day including Rock Choir, several performances from Bramall School of Dancing, culminating in an intimate performance from pop-jazz-soft rock band, Sonic Waves.
