The Five best brunch spots in Stopford… (maybe)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day until you mix it with lunch. Then you have a reason to start drinking earlier (or is that just me?!).

Whether you’re drinking or not, we’ve hand-picked five of the best brunch spots to across Stopford to give a try next time you’re peckish and it’s just past 10.30!

Sticky fingers Stockport

Well known for their craftsmanship when it comes to pastries, Sticky Fingers truly makes you feel as though you’ve been transported to a quaint little café in the heart of Warsaw. Missing your weekly dose of The Great British Bake Off? Head here to sample everything from the well-loved basics to more unique, show-stopping bakes.

From flaky golden buns to croissants and swirls, all topped with delicate icing and dripping with gooey sauces, the sheer abundance of options makes choosing nearly impossible. It’s the kind of place where one bite is all it takes before you’re rushing back to try everything else. And thanks to its popularity with Stopfordians, the business has recently expanded with a second shop at Underbank, building on the success of its Market Hall location.

Tawny stores

Not quite over the Autumn vibe yet? Wanting to feel like you’re on the set of the Gilmore Girls or tucked away in a cosy little Cotswolds cottage with Jude Law? We got you covered. Also located in the village of Marple, this stunning canal side café is the perfect place to pause for a coffee after clocking your January steps along the Marple aqueduct and canal.

With hearty, warming meals crafted from locally sourced organic ingredients, you get a tasty meal while giving a boost to the local community. Albeit the building holds a traditional English charm, the menu also combines a range of exotic European flavours and spices, changing weekly to suit the season’s best produce. Its spontaneity means that it’s the perfect place to explore new dishes, flavours and cuts of meat that you may not have tried before- each one guaranteed to offer a memorable experience.

Libby’s Bread & Wine

Don’t be fooled by the name when searching for a top brunch spot- though we’re certainly not judging a 10am tipple. Libby’s versatility shines through in its stunning breakfasts, which rival the flavour and flair of its much-loved evening tapas menu. As well as an extensive breakfast menu, think focaccias, shakshuka and comforting, spice-infused porridges, Libby’s also comes with a gorgeous balcony, perched in the treetops and overlooking the picturesque village of Marple.

And if you’re embracing a January health kick, don’t worry because you’re covered- their homemade granola is packed with fibre-rich ingredients, such as seeds, fruit, yoghurt and a drizzle of honey.

Yon Orange

Calling all coffee aficionados, this is a must-visit for anyone who truly appreciates a perfectly brewed bean. Here, coffee isn’t just made, it’s crafted for true enthusiasts. Not only does it have a beautifully blended aroma, but you can also crown it with an American-style cream top, available in an array of delicious flavours.

This recently opened spot is perfect for those still wanting a taste of a city-life whilst enjoying the peace that the Stockport suburbs have to offer. Focusing on a minimalist, Scandi-style, its indie aesthetic provides groovy, soulful tunes acting as the perfect space to unwind with your pals.

Even if coffee isn’t your thing, there’s plenty more to enjoy, from a wide selection of smoothies, teas, and kombuchas to a top-notch matcha fix. So, grab a cup, and a pastry, and kick back in this artsy new hangout.

Laco Café

Named as the best place in Greater Manchester for brunch, you can’t live in Stockport without having visited this classic. Located at Underbank, its cosy, inviting atmosphere is the perfect place to stop off after a morning of shopping. The menu may appear basic, but it elevates the classics with thick, juicy bacon and sausages, indulgent French toast, and poached eggs that are practically made for Instagram.

A particular highlight of the menu is its range of famous cheese toasties, which are each decorated with succulent accompaniments on a freshly baked sourdough bread. The tasty dishes and relaxed atmosphere make it one of the best cafés in Stockport for locals and visitors alike.
