The crazy duck race returns to Stockport village

May 15th 2026

Bramall’s iconic duck race is making its comeback this weekend, as hundreds of rubber ducks prepare to tear down the Ladybrook River at Bramall Hall, all battling it out for a £100 cash prize.

From giant specialty ducks to massive Anatidaens, each one is hand crafted with its own unique style, designed by local celebs and businesses. The races will be running throughout the day from 11am, with fairground rides and bouncy castles on hand to keep the kids entertained if the ducks don’t quite do it.

The event will also feature local singers and dance groups, alongside stalls packed with food, crafts and gifts from around the area. Visitors can even have a go at Bhangra-cise with Raj, or catch a performance from the high-energy Sparklers cheerleading group.

You can either turn up and watch the chaos unfold or get involved by sponsoring your own duck for just £1 with many different prizes up for grabs if your duck crosses the line first. Not only is this event great fun, but the money raised goes towards South Manchester’s Motor Neurone Disease Association, a charity that provides support for those with MND whilst also raising awareness of the illness.

There is also free transport to the event; the Duck Bus Park & Ride Services, which travel in from three different locations: Woodford and Bramhall, Hazel Grove and Cheadle Hulme so it’s dead easy to get out to. These buses will be continuously running throughout the day, starting at 10.15, with the last one leaving the park at 16.30.
