Stockport’s Foodie Friday Returns After Winning Big

January 26th 2026

Back on January 30th, Foodie Friday returns to Stockport Market with all the street food chaos we love – now holding the title of ‘Foodie Neighbourhood of the Year’.

This much-loved Stockport event scooped the public-voted award at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival on Monday– and honestly, it’s no surprise. Stockport’s buzzing food scene is turning heads far and this event draws in crowds from far and wide every month to soak up the lively atmosphere.

Showcasing around 25 different street food vendors with cuisines from all over the world, Foodie Fridays is the perfect place to spend your Friday evenings, whether it be with your pals, your family or even a solo-date after a long week of work. Alongside all the tasty grub and drinks, you’re guaranteed a cracking lineup of live entertainment from Stockport’s top local talent.

This Friday sees an eclectic mix of musical acts including young musician Ella Marchbank-Smith, the Stockport Rock Choir and rock/pop band Blind Tiger, all of whom will be based in the Market Hall.

And for food, well, where to start…

Attendees can try Foodie Friday classics such as Wrapscallion’s crisp, gooey quesadillas; Hallmounination’s spicy, sweet sticks; or I Knead pizza’s traditional Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, that could easily give Rudy’s a run for its money. Maybe you have more of an East-Asian craving? Then head to OhMeiDumpling’s for an array of soft, pillowy doughballs stuffed with juicy fillings or swing by Som Tam Street to relive those ‘Gap Year’ Thai flavours with your mates.

Once you’ve filled your stockings with the flavours of the world, you can finish the night off with a cheeky sweet treat from one of the numerous dessert stalls and dance the night away.

This event just keeps getting bigger, bringing the whole town together for good food, laughs, and that proper community buzz that you can’t fake. Who needs Glasto when you can head down to your local market and get a lifetime supply of arts, culture and entertainment in one night.

Finally, it wasn’t just Foodie Friday being heroed for their great food on Monday night, Stockport’s very own sandwich specialists Rack, who won the well-deserved ‘Food Trader of the Year’ award. Tip of the hat! And a load of other great Stockport businesses gained nominations including: The Little Sri Lankan; Cafe Sanjuan; Where The Light Gets In; Little Scarfs; The Runaway Brewery; Littlewoods Butchers; Fold; Cantaloupe; Tawny Stores Marple; The Magnet Freehouse; and the Royal Nawaab Pyramid.
