Timeout magazine has released its annual round-up of must-visit spots in the UK for 2026 and Stopford comes out as number 3!

Falling just short of the idyllic Scottish town, Stirling, at number one and iconic historic seaside resort, Hastings, at number two, Stockport has scored an absolute blinder ranking No.3 in TimeOut’s top five places to visit in 2026 in the UK. 

Described by Time Out as having ‘real energy and creativity,’ it strikes the perfect balance between a close-knit community feel and a vibrant city-centre social scene. Mornings can be spent having a chilled walk along the Stockport canal getting your daily dose of nature, before heading into the town centre for a brew and pastry at artisanal Polish bakery, Sticky Fingers. 

The afternoons call for perusing through Top of the Town Stores and 20th Century Vintage to bag some groovy new looks or uncovering some new underground tracks at SK1 stores, while taking in the town’s distinctive street art trails in-between. And if you get peckish? It’s THE best place to be. There are ramen bars, Mediterranean tapas, hearty Italians, classy bistros, greasy burgers joints and even Michelin-star restaurants, dotted all over the show. And if you and your mates can’t decide on one, head to the produce hall and share a feast of different cuisines between you.
