Have a little ‘Mooch’

September 10th 2026

Stopford’s new store you can’t help but lose hours in

Strolling down Mealhouse Brow, you can’t miss Mooch, the bright new gift and homeware store that has just opened its doors. While it might not be the first gift and homeware shop to grace the area, Mooch has plenty of personality of its own, with a carefully curated collection of quirky and unique pieces you might not find elsewhere.

With bright coral walls, a black-and-white striped floor and colourful bunting overhead, the shop has an instantly fun and exciting feel the moment you walk through the door.

Emma, the owner, sources the products from all across the world, focusing on bright, colourful designs that are intended to lift people’s mood. She sells pottery from Lisbon, Aegean olive oil, quirky caps and key rings, alongside beautiful cushions and throws. It has the similar vibe to some of your high street favourites like Oliver Bonas, but with a much friendlier price tag.

On Instagram, Emma said: “Stockport’s changing… The Underbanks doing things nobody expected. I grew up here. I’ve watched it happen.

So, when your town starts becoming something, you want to be part of it. You open a shop. We call it Mooch.”

The store will be open six days a week, Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm.
